The professional translation team of Svetana and Duncan Wallace are looking for a publishing house to submit an application under Strand 1.2.2 of the EU Culture Programme (Literary translation projects) with deadline for applications 1 February 2010. The project follows the short chapter in the forthcoming History of Sofia written by Svetana on 'Sofia through the Eyes of its Poets and Writers' and aims to provide the same insight into Bulgaria's history and culture through the translation of excerpts from its writers and poets since the closing years of the Ottoman occupation and the struggle for independence and finding its cultural identity again, the turn of the century under the monarchy, the bloody period of the Balkan Wars, the World Wars and the coming of communism, and finally the return to democracy.
