Digital Storytelling Workshop for older EU learners (over 50)

‘Eighteen Summers’ Digital Storytelling Workshop
a Grundtvig Learner Workshop – March 8-12, 2010 – Bristol, UK

This is a free digital storytelling workshop for older people (over 50) taking place March 8-12 at Watershed Media Centre, in Bristol’s Harbourside. Up to 15 participants will take part, 5 from the UK and 10 from other EU countries.

Digital Storytelling

Digital Storytelling is a process that supports an individual to create a short film using personal archive material (such as photographs) digital technology, and their own life experience. The outcome is a short film that tells a story that is unique to the maker.

At the heart of the process is an emphasis on the importance of each person’s unique voice. Sharing these powerful and personal stories with others in the workshop, and then with a wider audience online, is part of the magic of the process.

The ‘Eighteen Summers’ Digital Storytelling Workshop
In this week-long workshop, participants will work together as a group, in pairs, and individually to create a personal digital story based on their own experiences and the theme of their eighteenth summer.

Activity will take place each day between 10:00 and 17:00. The working language of the workshop is English.

Participants will be supported through the process and will receive training in:

* Story and script development
* Audio capture, editing and voice coaching
* Image capture and processing
* Digital video editing

A screening for participants of the completed films will take place at the end of the workshop. The films will also be published on a website (on agreement with the makers).
