Oriel Davies Gallery: contemporary visual art in rural regions of Europe

Oriel Davies Gallery (Wales, UK) is seeking European partners in rural regions. We are at the early stages of developing an ambitious visual arts cultural cooperation project to promote the exchange of artists, exhibitions, off-site projects, art education, conferences, ideas. We are seeking partner organisations who are focused on the visual arts to work with us to take the project forward, ready for an application to the culture programme in 2010. We are actively seeking partners wishing to help us develop this potential partnership network in its initial stages.

Oriel Davies is a not for profit organisation and a public art gallery based in rural mid Wales showing an innovative programme of contemporary visual art exhibitions. We seek strong & creative-minded European partners in rural areas - we are interested in hearing from partner visual arts organisations from any country in Europe and we are particularly interested in working with those based in Brittany, France, Asturias & Galicia, Spain, rural regions in Portugal, Italy, Poland. The project's core aim is to build links between rural visual arts venues across European borders and create opportunities for exchange.

Outline aims

- Creating opportunities for artists to create and exhibit together in rural locations
- Building links and cooperation between art curators
- Strengthening opportunities for audiences in rural regions to access contemporary visual art of excellence
- Exploring and exchanging innovative approaches to art/gallery education
