FW: Development Enterprise of Achaia Prefecture:European Agri-cultural Festival

European Agri-Cultural Festival

The Development Enterprise of Achaia Prefecture in Greece is looking for European partners for a project to be submitted under the Culture Programme, Strand 1.2.1 (deadline: 1st October 2009).

The project taking into consideration that the cultivation of the land is the basic feature of the historic evolution of the mankind. The passage from the search of food to the land cultivation is the primary level of the organized human societies. The first farmers leave the nomadic way of life and create coherent relations with their place and of course with the people who they live with. This element marks the need of the creation of the first organized societies.

These people who needed to live together and cultivate the land, firstly as families and afterwards as groups of people who shared common needs, created the first culture evidences so as to solve their nutrition problems which connected and formed a society. Looking back in history, we can find these culture evidences which concern the development of cohabitation rules, morals and habitudes, the development of common ways of communication, traditions and myths, the evaluation of the production resources and the development of religion practices.

The cultivation of the land and the production of agricultural products are dependent on a lot of different conditions such as the type of land and the environmental conditions, so as to have different types of cultivations, products and needs which define the identity of every region.

The main objective of this project proposal is a Festival so as to promote the tradition (morals and habitudes) and the civilization that stems from the cultivation of typical agricultural products, the support of the products, the exchange of opinions and information, as well as innovative ideas which will be presented in the exhibition via meetings, the support of the producers and therefore the economy.

Apart from that, the Festival constitutes an attraction pole for visitors reinforcing in this way the tourism sector.

In the frames of the Festival, the planned activities are:

* Informative speeches of general interest and connection with the already practiced activity. The main aim is primarily the promotion of each region identity.
