Kenya child and family Development Organization: Project for Reviewing the Luo community cultural beliefs and ritual traditions in Nyanza Province-Kenya.

The Kenyan non-profit organization, Kenya child and family Development Organization- KECFADO, is looking for partners world-wide for the project to be submitted under the Culture Program, Strand 1.2.1 (deadline: 1st October 2009.) The project aims to address the Luo cultural beliefs and ritual traditions as the root cause contributing to high poverty level, high HIV/AIDS prevalence and high death rate in Nyanza Province, Kenya. The region has enormous resources: Lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake in the world; several rivers and permanent streams; ample rainfall and land; educated and prominent people! The majority of people practise Christian religion.

The project is expected to effect consciousness in the minds of the Luo community members to enable them to make choices that will lead to maximum utilization of resources available to the community in fight against poverty, prevention and control of HIV/AIDS. The project has no partners yet.
