Partner request for Great Yarmouth (England) based arts organisation

The Seachange Trust is an arts charity, based in the coastal town of Great Yarmouth in the eastern region of England. Our mission is to increase participation and access to high quality arts and cultural experiences, which will ultimately enrich the lives of local, regional and international communities through enjoying and achieving, celebrating diversity and raising aspirations. Great Yarmouth has a very diverse and international population with over 25% of the town centre population from an international background and 165 languages spoken in the town, which is one of the most deprived areas in the whole of the United Kingdom. Seachange delivers creative learning projects for people from a range of backgrounds including socially excluded groups, young people, those with low educational attainment, culturally diverse communities including migrants and refugees and intergenerational groups. We promote the annual Out There Festival of street arts in September which attracts over 30,000 visitors and local people to the town. Seachange delivers cross artform work including:

  • Performing arts
  • Film-making
  • Urban arts
  • Street arts
  • Media
  • Visual arts

We have extensive experience of delivering European projects including:
  • A successful Culture 2007 initiative exploring inclusion in adult education
  • A Leonardo (Grundtvig) funded programme of intercultural dialogue and have just been successful in a Youth in Action bid to develop urban arts
  • INTERREG partnership exploring street arts

We want to develop a range of projects over the next 3 years and are looking for: Partners to take part in a project exploring circus, both in terms of heritage and history and also around contemporary street arts and performance. Other festivals to develop joint commissions and performance opportunities for local and international artists. Partners who would
like to take part in cultural diversity projects, older people’s/intergenerational initiatives and projects which can engage young people from deprived communities.
